Everyone, I am writing to warn you all about a terrible threat to the traditional institution of marriage. This threat has dramatically increased divorce rates. Do you want your children to grow up in a world full of divorce and broken families? We must take swift action to eliminate this threat by means of legislation. Let's act quickly to save marriage!
The threat to which I am referring is called "conservative Christianity". According to a 1999 Barna poll, divorce rates among members of this abominable sect are significantly higher than the general population. Atheist divorce rates come in at about 21%, better than 24% for Mormons, 29% for Baptists, and 34% for non-denominational Christians. There can be no question that this is an infiltration of our moral society by a dissolute and even subversive element. These Christians are attempting to destroy the foundation of our society by promulgating their loose morals and marital infidelity. Worse still, they are trying to infiltrate our schools, our workplaces, and the public sphere. They hope to indoctrinate our children by introducing prayer and Bible-reading to the public school system. Do you really want your children forced to read an immoral book full of genocide, murder, and sexual innuendo? Vote "yes" on the California religion amendment. Vote "yes" to outlaw Christianity today. Do it for the children!

lol. I seem to be detecting a common theme in your posts the last couple of days...
Election time is drawing nigh, and polls show that the fundies are winning. After the election I probably won't blog about this for a while... at least until the time comes to do it all over again next cycle. :-)
Have you seen these ads, Chris?

(Sorry - I'm no good with HTML, so you just get the messy-looking link.)
While I'm at it, did you know that 77% of funding for Prop 8 advertising is from the LDS Church? I got that number here: http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/the_daily_dish/2008/10/the-mormon-fact.html (sorry for the link again)
All of your interests combine so nicely!
I love those ads. Especially the first one. :-)
Yeah, the Mormon Church has put a huge amount of money and effort into supporting Prop 8, despite the fact that their official church policy is to remain neutral on political issues. And these are not just Mormon people acting independently, either: the Mormon leadership has repeatedly and adamantly called for church members to donate and to get involved, and has disciplined anyone who dares to publicly disagree with this policy. The really annoying thing about Mormon advocacy for this amendment is that a lot of their money and volunteers have been shipped in from out-of-state. That just doesn't seem quite right to me.
77%, though... I didn't realize the number was so big! Thanks for the links!
